Why Cycle 9?
We’re seeing a lot more sellers of electric bikes and hub motor kits popping up around the internet. How to differentiate between the good sellers and the bad sellers? Only a few short years ago, we were in the shoes of the consumer. Here is what we looked for, and now that we are in the position of selling, what we strive for:
- Using what we sell, every day. We have been bike commuting, daily, for over 20 years. We’ve commuted in the mountains of the Western USA, in the frigid cold of Wisconsin, and in the sometimes too balmy (and very hilly) Southeastern USA. We know what products work over the long haul, and what ones don’t. If we feel a product wouldn’t hold up to our use, we won’t sell it (except, perhaps, in our clearance area).
- Testing products before selling them. The electric hub market is presently flooded with new products. We’ve unfortunately seen some people rush to sell products the minute they arrive, without any testing. We won’t do that. We test products, thoroughly, before listing them. Occasionally we sell new products as “beta test” (after some of our own testing), so the buyer knows it is a new product. Nonetheless, if we have doubts, we won’t sell it.
- Discharge testing every battery. We make sure that every battery goes out is performing as it should, before sending it.
- We respond to emails, promptly and in English. And we answer the phones, too! We are here to answer questions, or if you have any problems. We will work with you to get any problems fixed.
- We know bikes, and we know electric motors/electronics. There are a lot of folks who know the electronics well, and a lot of people who know bikes and bike mechanics well, but we’ve seen few who do both well. We are a real bike shop, with name brand bikes like Marin, Breezer, Surly, Civia, and more. We have a professional bike mechanic on staff and a full service repair center. We also do full service electrical/electronic repairs, including battery pack rebuilds, motor repairs, etc. We also build our own wheels, to exacting standards (we ride on them every day).

Have a look at this thread over on the RootsRadicals group with mention from two happy customers.
“Of course you can use me as a reference - no worries. You have gone to the max for me, it's the least I could do.”

“ From a heat perspective, the motor does well in San Francisco. It is usually in the high 50s to low 60s here. It's a great motor so far.

two test runs and no problems at all! i think this one is gonna work! im out of town most of this week, but next week i'll get the other controllers shipped back to you. thank you for all your patience!
- Mike in Va (after we sent him two different replacement controllers to make sure he had a flawless experience)
I got the kit Fri morning. I installed it Sat and was able to take my first ride Sat afternoon. Install was pretty easy. The hardest thing was getting the hand grips off. Once I figured that out, everything else was easy. That thing is really cool. I was riding up some decent hills with minimal pedaling. I will probably rarely use the motor without pedaling. I have a 6mi commute that has been taking 45 min or so as it is very hilly. My commute home is 20 min. I look forward to trying the route the next few weeks and see how much time I save with the eZee motor.

.Apart from that everything is great I feel like the bionic man who just keeps grinning like a Cheshire cat, (see attachment) with regards to your problems with the controller I work in a quarry which is at the top of a seriously steep hill when I get to the top the battery and controller are quite warm but the light on the controller isn’t flashing so I presume everything is ok. Can I just say a big thank you for all your help with this purchase especially with the trust over the trouble with the charger, this kit has made my daily trip to work a lot more enjoyable and hopefully I should get a bit fitter and lose some of those unwanted pounds

Good Morning Ladies,Got the ezee all set up on the Yuba last night. Super cool. It's not a rocket ship with the weight of the Yuba but it eases the pain of getting up the hills. Pretty easy install, had to do some minor customizing but nothing too major. Attaching a picture....It is totally pimped out now for mountain service. Put the studded snow tires on, as it is supposed to snow this weekend, put the blinky and the karma on, deck for the kids on the rack and customized my old paniers, fenders and the hebie kickstand. It weighs in at about 100 lbs. Wow!!! Still rides nice though even with the kids on there. Hoping to inspire the town folk to see the beauty of the Yuba commuter.

My apologies for not getting back to you with some feedback sooner. Rest assured that I have not forgotten - in fact I think of you every day, especially while riding my 'new' bike! In any case, you will be happy to know that all is well, and I now have a break to tell you a little more...All in all, I am very grateful for everything that you and Kristen and Elise have done for me. Thank you!
