Know your battery is protected and fully charged

You've made an investment in your LifePO4 battery and want peace of mind that your charger is working well with it. This is a fully automatic charger with built in battery protections to prevent overcharging. But that's not all. You see, this charger also has a supplemental charging mode to prevent UNDER charging your cells.

What happens is this. When one of the cells in your battery reaches full voltage, the Battery Management System (BMS) that protects your battery will cut off charging. Some chargers turn off at this point, but then they miss what happens next. If the cells are not all fully charged, the BMS will move some voltage over from the full cells to the other cells, balancing them out. Then your battery is ready for more charging. But if the charger has already turned off, it won't be able to provide it and you end up with a battery not up to its full capacity. With this charger, instead of completely turning off, it goes to a stand-by mode, where the charger is not providing power but is still on. Then when the BMS gives the OK, it turns power back on to charge a little more. This cycles on and off until every cell is fully charged but not overcharged. The result is a battery that can deliver its full capacity so you can travel your full range.
