Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Sophisticated, trendy, worldly, and refined.  These words pop into mind when I think of the people I encountered in my European travels.  With cycling integral to the Dutch culture, the Netherlands-based Batavus creates a city bike to couple the style of Europe with the practicality of a daily commute.  These bikes are characterized by their upright posture and low maintenance design.  They’re comfortable, relaxed, and the perfect way to get around town.  At Cycle 9, we’re pleased to bring some

EcoBikes

Monday, June 7th, 2010
We’re all about pure pedal power, but let’s face it, hilly commutes, long distances, heavy loads, or showing up sweaty to work are major deterrents that keep many of us from biking.  A practical solution to these issues is the electric-assist bicycle.  Equipped with a motor and battery that plugs easily into the wall, these bikes are an earth-friendly alternative to a car.  And while you’re doing the Earth a favor on an e-bike, you’ll also find that you’re doing

New at Cycle 9: Melon Folding Bikes

I love folding bikes for a couple of reasons.  The first is that they’re great for traveling.  Compact enough to store in a suitcase, these bikes are the perfect way for cyclists to avoid expensive cargo charges on airplanes.  The second reason is that commuters or urban residents don’t have to leave these bikes on the street.  Instead of worrying about chaining down all your components, it takes just a few seconds to collapse a folding bike and tuck it

Xtracycle, the original longtail bike – Go By Bike Episode 19

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Xtracycle. Your Everyday Adventure Xtracycle is the original longtail – the company that started it all when surfers wanted to be able to carry their boards to the beach. Designed originally for use in developing countries with paths instead of roads, the Xtracycle add-on Free Radical kit found a home in the US in the 1990s, and the idea has taken off in the last 5 years. In today’s video I show what an Xtracycle kit is, how it fits
