Kids Bike Trade-in Program
We know kids grow fast (ours do!), so we’re here to help parents out and get kids on quality bikes at the same time. If you purchase a kids bike from us, you can participate in our trade-up program! Here’s how it works.
- Within 3 years of the purchase date, bring the bike back in rideable condition and you get 50% of the price you paid towards the next size up. After 3 years, you get 25% of the value to use towards the next size (no limit!).
- This program starts with our balance bikes (for kids age 2-5) and ends with your first full wheel size bike. So it will grow with your child from small to tall.
The kids bikes we sell are all HIGH QUALITY bikes. They will ride better and last longer than the type you buy at Wal-Mart or Toys-R-Us. The middle size bikes have gears and hand brakes and are suitable for on road AND off road riding. And with this program, the cost will be similar to purchasing each size bike from those other major retailers. Cost example:

Bikes that are traded in will be fixed and sold as used bikes or donated to causes that help those less fortunate get into riding bikes. Bikes can only be traded in for a larger bike, not a smaller or same size bike. In order to get full value for the bike, it must be mechanically functional and not excessively rusty. We know kids, and we know they leave bikes out in the rain and are hard on bikes. So we don’t expect pristine conditions, but if the bike is not functional and must be thrown out, we can’t give full value for that.

Free Adjustments for Life
Buy any bike from Cycle 9’s Carrboro/Chapel Hill location, and you can bring it in for a free safety check and adjustments for as long as you own the bike. This is a $25 value on each visit! If you choose to have a major tune-up instead, you’ll get a $25 discount on labor from that, any time.

Cycle 9 Bonus Program
We know you deserve a bonus as much as anyone, so we have a great bonus program for Cycle 9 customers. You get 10% back on purchases you make at Cycle 9, just like other companies, except it doesn’t cost you anything to be part of our club! All you do is come into the store and sign up. Every purchase you make will be entered onto your very own Bonus Card, which we keep in the store (so you don’t have to worry about remembering it). After you’ve made 6 purchases, your total is added up, and you get 10% off that total towards your next purchase. It’s that easy. And it’s a great way for your to save your hard earned money and support your local economy as well!
In addition, bonus program members will be entered into monthly prize drawings – just for bonus club members! If you aren’t a member, come into the store and get your card today so you can start saving.

Return and Exchange policies
We work hard to find you exactly what you need when you come into our store. But we know that sometimes things just don’t work out exactly as planned. And we don’t want you to be stuck with something that just isn’t right for you.
Returns: Items purchased from our retail store can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase (see exceptions below), no questions asked, for any reason. Within 3 months, items may be exchanged or returned for store credit. If it’s been longer than 3 months, any returns must receive approval of the owner.
Bikes and hub motor kits can be returned or exchanged within 30 days. Full value will be returned in the form of store credit or cash back will be subject to 10% restocking fee. Custom built or specified bikes can be returned or exchanged only with owner approval, and only for store credit.
Parts that have been installed on a bike can only be returned for store credit, unless they are defective. Cycle 9 staff has exclusive right to determine condition.
Items sold on closeout, consumable items and items that are damaged or abused may not be returned.
Special orders: We will happily take your special order. Payment will be collected at time of order. Special orders may be exchanged or returned for store credit within 3 months of purchase date.
Special ordered bikes: Bikes that we typically stock which have been special ordered may be returned according to policies above. Bikes that we typically do not stock or we stock only limited quantity (e.g. KidzTandem) which have been special ordered may not be returned, but may be sold on consignment, at discretion of store manager.
